Civitans are everyday citizens who come together in communities around the world to socialize, learn and serve their neighbors.

Here in Winterville, we work hard to meet the needs and improve the lives of those within our community.

Through service projects, we work with the City of Winterville to improve our neighborhoods & address concerns of all different varieties and types

Some of our projects support our international focus on improving the lives of people with developmental disabilities.

Club Mission

To provide Service, Knowledge and Fellowship, to its members with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.

Vision of the Club

To provide hands-on community service projects and give financial support to projects benefiting the community and people with developmental disabilities.

Who Are We?

We Are A Traditional Club

Meetings are approximately one hour in length, which includes a meal, meeting, and/or short program.  We feel it is very important to have a quality speaker/program at every meeting.  Speaker/programs are provided by Club members on a sign up basis which provides a wide array on interesting topics and programs.  Meals are catered, especially for special occasions, such as our Scholarship Dinner, Club Officer Installation, and Founder's Day Banquet. An active member pays membership fees and dues, and may hold elected office in a club, a district, or International level.  At club meetings Civitans hear from community, business and government leaders who provide informative and entertaining programs on the issues that affect Civitans and their families the most.

Project ideas come from the members through the approval of the Club's Board of Directors.  The Club holds a short business session at each meeting with updated reports on activities of the Club and future project opportunities.  The entire Club's membership approves the Club Budget and elects officers for the following year at an annual business meeting.

On an international level, Civitan has grown to over 40,000 members in 27 countries, including youth and college programs. Civitan is devoted to improving the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Civitans' flagship program is the UAB Civitan International Research Center, the first institution of its kind in the United States to be solely dedicated to research of developmental disabilities.

Meeting Location

We meet the second & fourth Thursday of every month at 7 pm, at The Depot located on Parkview Rd. & Marigold Lane.  Be our guest the first time and enjoy a free meal!

Civitan Mission & Creed

Civitan's Mission Statement

The worldwide mission of Civitan International is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.

Civitan's Creed:

I AM CIVITAN: as old as life, as young as the rainbow, as endless as time.

MY HANDS do the work of the world and reach out in service to others.

MY EARS hear the cry of children and the call throughout the world for peace, guidance, progress and unity.

MY EYES search for others to join in the fellowship and service of Civitan.

MY MOUTH utters the call to daily duty and speaks prayers in every tongue.

MY MIND teaches me respect for law and the flag of my country.

MY HEART beats for every friend, bleeds for every injury to humanity and throbs with joy at every triumph of truth.

MY SOUL knows no fear but its own unworthiness.

MY HOPE is for a better world through Civitan.

MY MOTTO: builders of good citizenship.

MY BELIEF: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

MY PLEDGE: to practice the Golden Rule and to build upon it a better and nobler citizenship.
